A strong mint-leaf green is emerging as a colour of the autumn 2026 season, worn with black and bitter chocolate brown for a richer, more decadent take on how to wear green. Emerald has usually appeared in the jewel-tone conversation as jewellery, so the shift is notable. Akris, Shiatzy Chen and Balenciaga showed the shade in silk, leather and lace, which gives the colour a range of textures well beyond accessories.
The styling logic is simple. Deep neutrals ground the shade and make it easy to wear in the daytime. For evening, a sharp court shoe replaces a heavy black boot, so the look reads as polished rather than rugged.
In India, the colour already has a strong footing. The retail category calls dark green and emerald lehengas highly captivating and says green has become a popular choice for weddings. That occasionwear heritage gives the shade a ready audience, and the current offering stretches well beyond bridal.
In ethnic wear, emeralds run through silk and jacquard. Empress Pitara lists an Emerald Green Silk Kurta and Pant set on Nykaa Fashion, while Heritage offers an Emerald Green Dola Jacquard Kurta with Pant and Dupatta. Pearls & Pastels carries the Krishika Emerald Green Silk Kurta with Pant and Dupatta, a set of three. For menswear, Fabindia lists a Green Wool Nehru Jacket, a deeper, more wearable green than the brighter jewel tones.
Western dressing offers the closest match to the runway materials. Boho-Chic by Sukriti Jain sells a Green Emerald Lace Mini Dress, echoing the lace seen on the catwalk. Qurvii lists an Emerald Green Textured Georgette Dress, bringing the shade to a wider fashion audience. Label Ivish offers an emerald top in pure silk charmeuse satin, paired with wide-leg pants and a sash belt, through Aza Fashions. Among international labels, Zara’s India site describes its green blouses as running from soft sage to striking emerald tones, which shows the shade is already part of high-street assortments.
Designer co-ords round out the picture. Wendell Rodricks lists an Emerald Green Satin Linen Co-Ord Set on Pernia’s Pop Up Shop, and FEBo6 has an Emerald Green Silk Pleated Co-Ord Set on the same platform, though that piece is currently listed as sold out. Between them they cover silk, satin and linen, the fabrics that carry the shade’s richness.
For the Indian market, the opportunity is less about introducing green than about how it is worn. The colour is available across ethnic, western and designer categories, and the season’s direction points to pairing it with black and deep brown rather than with festive golds and brights. Retailers and brands that already stock emerald can build the story through styling, placing it alongside darker neutrals and sharper footwear to move the shade from occasionwear into everyday and evening dressing.
