From 21st-24th June, in Coimbatore, the 14th edition of the textile machinery expo, Texfair, will be hosted by the Southern India Mills’ Association (SIMA).
The SIMA’s vice-chairman, S. Krishnakumar, and chairman, S.K. Sundararaman, informed reporters on Tuesday that 260 stalls would be occupied by 240 exhibitors, including foreign participation. They would showcase new technology, accessories, replacement parts, and textile machinery. It was anticipated that the exhibitors would receive Rs. 1,500 crore in business from the event.
In addition to expenditures in modernization, textile mills spend 2.5% to 3% of their yearly revenue on spares and accessories. Mr. Sundararaman stated that these mills are continuously seeking new suppliers, ways to improve efficiency, and ways to save costs. “Texfair looks at bridging the gap between the mills and the suppliers with the exhibition,” he added.
“Textiles, especially spinning, is a cyclical industry. The last 16-18 months were a downcycle period. We are confident of revival. But, the textile units need to improve efficiency and reduce their operation costs,” he further said.
