
The 13th Dhaka International Textile and Garment Machinery Exhibition kick-started at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka today, attracting several players from across the globe.
It is being organised by Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), along with Taiwan’s exhibition management firm Chan Chao International Company and Hong Kong’s Yorkers Trade and Marketing Service Company.
This four-day international fair will feature the leading brands in textiles and garment technology, machinery and parts, and is being thronged by participants from 34 countries including Bangladesh.
More than 1,000 textile equipment manufacturers from several countries across the globe have exhibited their machines at the venue that boasts of high-tech textile and garment technologies and machineries, says BTMA President Tapan Chowdhury.
Elaborating on the fair, Judy Wang, Executive Director of Chan Chao International Company says, “Exhibitors are showcasing the latest in textiles and apparel technology through 1,160 booths allotted to spinners, weavers and knitters.”
Several global brands like Barudan, Jakob Muller, Karl Mayer, Loepfe Graf, Lonati, Oerlikon, Pai Lung, Picanol, Rieter, Santoni, LMW, Shima Seiki, Thies, Truetzschler and Zimmer are displaying and selling their products at the venue. The fair is expected to see a high footfall and has participants from countries like Belgium, Brazil, China, Finland, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the UK, the USA, France, Germany, India, Pakistan and Vietnam.
Expressing his view on the sector, Chowdhury added, “The sector has established a strong backward linkage industry for the country’s garment industry. As a result, the apparel sector has been able to keep up its growth momentum and remain sustainable.”
Last year, exhibitors sold machinery worth US $220 million at the fair.
