The Korean pioneer Loiva has been one of the first brands which partnered with the company at the time of its establishment in 2007. Besides showcasing its popular button feeder attachment for button sewing machines and auto-jig machine for template sewing applications, the company highlighted the range of bonding, taping and seam sealing machines from Hong Kong-based H&H for the first time in Bangladesh.“Bonding is still a segment Bangladesh has to venture into, but applications of seam sealing and taping for water proofing are already being done by various outerwear jacket manufacturers in the country like Youngone,” shares Anshuman Dash, Director – Marketing, Loiva, and believes that educating the industry about the possibilities with bonding machines will benefit both the sides. The company was also showcasing a range of bonded garments like shirts and denim jeans, manufactured by the company on machines from H&H.
Talking about the increased thrust from the international stakeholders on apparel manufacturers of Bangladesh for increasing their productivity and efficiency, Anshuman adds, “It’s nothing new for us, the only difference is prior to 2013 we were running after people for buying solutions for productivity improvement and reducing the manpower requirement, but today it is the other way round.” The company believes that Bangladesh generally has been very robust and proactive at running their factories and machines with the least downtime possible, by developing a knack for repairing sewing machines. “Rather than employing more and more technicians for supporting our clients in the country, we focus on skilling the in-house technicians of our customers and the results have been very impressive,” asserts Anshuman, who believes in inclusive growth with its partner Smart Technology in Bangladesh.
Another gem in Smart Technology’s offering to the industry of Bangladesh, is Eastman Machine Company with more than 12 decades of experience in manufacturing manual and automated cutting room solutions. Present in Bangladesh for the past 25 years, Eastman opened its liaison office in Bangladesh in 2012 and since then has increased its sales figure by 60% compared to last year. “Our manual range of cutting equipment has been widely popular in the industry, and 60% of the industry in Bangladesh is using some or the other equipment from Eastman. Due to this, our range of automated spreaders and cutters has been widely accepted in the country,” adds Fakhrul Islam, Country Manager, Eastman Bangladesh Liaison Office. The company has recently installed its automated spreading and cutting machines at the 110 line project of HKD Group in Bangladesh for manufacturing both knit and woven apparels. “We recently replaced cutting machines from a well known brand at the unit of Shore to Shore Textiles with our spreading machines, due to our robust service and support,” asserts Fakhrul Islam. The company has also installed its machines at the lingerie manufacturing facility of Pran Group. For servicing the influx of new clients in the country, Eastman has 4 service engineers with vast experience in servicing automated cutting and spreading machines.
With the presence of Gauge sewing machines and spares, in its product portfolio the Smart Technology has completed its product portfolio as a solution provider.
