US-based technology solutions provider Gerber Technology will host a panel discussion at PI (Product Innovation) Apparel New York, to be held on June 19- 20, 2018. The theme of discussion will surround 3D and its need in the current fashion value chain to address the needs of the consumers.
The discussion will revolve around an end-to-end 3D platform strategy which will focus on creative design through pattern making, product, e-commerce and merchandising platforms. “It will also be a medium to educate future fashion leaders who support the fashion value chain,” stated Bill Grindle, Chief Marketing Officer, Gerber Technology.
Gerber has taken upon this theme to address the challenges in the adoption of 3D. Being the buzzword, 3D offers advantages like time saving and value generation, but the real problem lies in the ease of use. Industry has still not been able to figure out how 3D can be used to address needs of different users in an integrated way.
“Today, there are a variety of great solutions to support different stages of the supply chain, but they are all just point solutions, addressing individual user needs but not delivering on the full opportunity 3D can bring to our industry,” said Mary McFadden, Executive Director CAD product management, Gerber Technology.
Gerber provides this integration to 3D through its focus on customer feedback which is the backbone of its product development. The company’s 3D platform strategy is directly driven by the needs of the customers.
Key panelists holding the discussion include Steve Frumkin, Dean, Fashion Institute of Technology; Amnon Shalev, CEO & Founder, Virtuality.Fashion; David Macy, VP, Product, Avametric; Pep Torres, Innovation Manager, Happy Punt; Christian Harris, 3D Product Owner, Gerber Technology; and Karsten Newbury, SVP & GM, Gerber Technology.
