
La. Ganesan, Governor, Nagaland has urged the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), to prioritise building fashion start-ups, emphasise sustainability and promote inclusivity.
Addressing NIFT Chennai convocation, he said that the demand for unique handwoven products has expanded beyond regional markets, attracting attention nationally and even internationally.
He said that the young minds of NIFT are poised to redefine the world, to set new trends, and to breathe life into fabrics with creativity and innovation.
“Fashion industry has the power to make substantial positive impacts, and we should aim at sustainable practices. The art we create should reflect not only our creativity but also our care and respect for our environment,” he said.
The Government said that the promotion of traditional Khadi and handloom is not just an act of empowerment but an applauding tribute to the motherland’s heritage which had enlightened all of us during the Khadi Mahotsav, he added.
Overall 282 students from various courses got their certificates while 37 graduates won gold medals, citation and cash awards to for academic performance and co-curricular contributions.
