At least 1.2 lakh weavers and artisans across the country will benefit from Hastkala Sahyog Shivirs, a 10-day long pan India handloom and handicraft camps, organised from October 7.
The event, dedicated to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Garib Kalyan Varsh, the birth centenary year of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, will be organised by the Ministry of Textiles across more than 421 handloom-handicrafts clusters, informed Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani.
Weavers and artisans attending the camps will be offered facilities such as issuance of credit facilities through MUDRA scheme along with technology upgrade assistance under the Hathkargha Samvardhan Sahayata handloom scheme.
The craftsmen and weavers will also be given modern tool- kits and equipment during the camps. Buyer-seller meets and expos will also be held at the Hastkala Sahyog Shivirs.
The key objective behind organising the handicraft-handloom camps is to promote handloom and handicraft products. The camps are expected to raise the sale-level of these products and thereby support the industry as a whole.
