On Thursday, the Jammu & Kashmir Textile Sourcing Fair-2024 was addressed by Jammu & Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha. Sinha discussed the rich textile history of the Union Territory and how both local producers and artisans now have more access to markets and export potential.
In J&K, the textile sector is making a resurgence. This sector has shown tremendous growth rates during the last 50 months, according to LG Sinha. In order to promote Jammu and Kashmir’s distinctive textile products and give the area’s skilled craftspeople access to new markets, he urged both domestic and foreign consumers to become involved.
He praised the textile products’ delicate designs, diverse themes, and subdued hues. According to LG Sinha, J&K’s craftspeople have distinguished themselves via their artistic legacy and ongoing quality in creativity.
The Department of Industries & Commerce, J&K Trade Promotion Organisation, and the Handloom Export Promotion Council at SKUAST Kashmir coordinated the event, which drew together importers, exporters, and buyers from around the country. It provided a venue for business-to-business meetings, trade shows, and workshops, enabling attendees to network with international buyers, keep abreast of industry developments, and hone critical competencies.
