On 8th August, Delhi hosted the opening ceremony for Indian Textile Gallery II. In an effort to commemorate and celebrate Indian weavers and craftsmen, the president of FDCI and another curator have put together a textile exhibition that showcases Indian crafts and techniques.
In order to commemorate, conserve, and showcase the rich legacy of Indian handlooms and textiles, the Ministry of Textiles has opened an immersive and one-of-a-kind exhibition in Delhi.
Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh and Minister of State, Textiles, Pabitra Margherita opened the Indian Textiles Gallery II, titled “Tradition and Innovation,” on 8th August at the National Crafts Museum & Hastkala Academy in the national capital’s Pragati Maidan. The roughly 150 pieces on display in this one-of-a-kind immersive experience are the ideal fusion of traditional and modern elements. Under the “Past Meets Present” theme, the gallery is enhancing the visitor’s experience by utilising cutting-edge lighting and display technologies.
With the assistance of FDCI President Sunil Sethi and renowned art historian Jyotindra Jain, the gallery’s 150 pieces were chosen from a collection of over 2,600 museum artefacts. With sections of carefully chosen textiles that feature brocade, block prints, embroidered, kalamkari, resist-dyed fabrics, and many other Indian weaves, the curators have woven a tale of Indian heritage.
