
‘Entrepreneurship Summit’, an initiative by Economic Times held in Delhi discussed the trends and solutions in the segment of entrepreneurship in India. Entrepreneurship is the new buzzword in the Indian business sector and the government is seriously promoting it.
Speaking at the Summit, Kalraj Mishra, Union Minister, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) said,” The year 2015 has been fantastic for start-ups in India. The country has emerged as the fastest growing base for the start-ups worldwide. India is one among the first five largest start-up communities in the world and the number of start-ups has increased to more than 4,200. With the present ‘Start-up India, Stand up India’ campaign by the government, the budding entrepreneurs will be further encouraged.”
One of the well-known textile industrialists, Manish Mandhana, MD, Mandhana Industries & Being Human opined, “Entrepreneurship is in our blood! India is a very enterprising country and we are known for multi-tasking. There is a huge pool of talent in this country and our environment helps us do several things at once, and we are perhaps born to be businessmen.”

With a healthy cash inflow, entrepreneurship in India is facilitating braving risk takers and young entrepreneurs who are not only satisfied with domestic success but also have global aspirations.

Speakers at the Summit advocated for improving the business environment in India. Runa Bannerjee, General Secretary, Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) said, “Ironically, the only thing stymieing business in India is the Indian policies.”
The summit also saw discussions on the finer nuances of creating a brand. Ashish Shah, Founder & CEO, Pepperfry and Ajay Bijli, MD, PVR Cinemas contributed extensively on the subject.
