COTTON USA, a brand for high-quality cotton from the US farmlands – promoted by Cotton Council International (CCI), will be organizing an India Summit on May 27 and May 28 in Mumbai and Bangalore. CCI plans to develop a complete supply chain in India to create COTTON USA labelled merchandise. It is also reaching out to Indian consumers through promotion and education programme. The idea is to set global standard for purity, quality and responsibility in the cotton supply chain. The event is conceptualized in the wake of surging phenomenon where branding is extending beyond apparel back to the fibre level; for instance COTTON USA itself or Supima, Giza, Lycra, Liva or Woolmark. A release by COTTON USA stated that the Summit will have participation of industry leaders representing national and international brands, retailers and manufacturers.
