India’s first exclusive fashion tour launched on metaverse organised by Blenders Pride Glassware Fashion Tour, powered by Design Council of India. It is a landmark event for the Indian fashion industry as the fashion show on metaverse showcases the latest examples of indigenous fashion brands.
The virtual tour showcased 60 unique designer outfits, some of which were created by well-known designers like Gauri & Nainika, Satya Paul and JJ Valaya, while others were from home-grown labels like Lovebirds.
The foray was made possible by Decentraland, which allowed users to purchase virtual properties with NFTs. Previously, the tour took place in physical locations such as Mumbai, Kolkata, Gurugram and Hyderabad but now the event has been completely transformed into a ‘phygital’ event.
Users were able to try on and buy unique wearable NFTs via a smart mirror in the ‘Designer & Trial Zone’. The NFTs were created by designers who were a part of the virtual tour such as Shantanu and Nikhil, Amit Aggarwal, Falguni Shane Peacock and Kunal Rawal under its ‘not the T-shirt’ project.
Additionally, users were also able to gain access to real, physical outfits by purchasing NFTs, which added another layer of realism to the overall experience and in another move, gender-neutral, plus-size and specially-abled models were preferred for the virtual models.
To enhance the level of participation, a treasure hunt was also arranged, providing participants the opportunity to win an iPhone 13, Bluetooth earphones worth Rs. 15,000, or online vouchers worth Rs. 5,000.
Additionally, Web3 influencers with a large following, such as Sharkshe and Rakazone, also gave their audience a glimpse into the Fashion Tour Park by live-streaming their experiences there.
