
In the 112th International Labour Conference, Bangladesh is represented by Imranur Rahman, Managing Director of Laila Group and Director of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA). Labour leaders, decision-makers, and business representatives from around the globe have come together for the conference, which runs from 3rd–14th June, to talk about and influence global labour standards.
During his speech, Imranur Rahman emphasised the noteworthy advancements made in the ongoing initiatives within Bangladesh’s Ready-Made Garment (RMG) industry. The International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the BGMEA are working together to undertake these projects intended to improve worker rights, workplace safety, and environmentally friendly practices in the sector.
He thanked the ILO for its ongoing support and highlighted the benefits of their partnership for Bangladesh’s apparel industry. In addition to enhancing working conditions, he pointed out that these actions had increased the industry’s competitiveness internationally.
The 112th International Labour Conference provides an essential forum for the advancement of worker rights and the encouragement of sustainable development in a range of sectors.
