The 29th edition of the US Trade Show is set to begin in the capital on 9th May to demonstrate American products and services in Bangladesh and give a boost to bilateral trade.
According to Syed Ershad Ahmed, president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham), the three-day event will feature more than 100 US items represented by 44 domestic and international exhibitors.
He gave a speech at the show’s media briefing held on Tuesday at the InterContinental Dhaka. The US embassy in Dhaka and the AmCham will be organising the event together. Since it was first held in 1992, the expo has grown to become Bangladesh’s most important yearly business event, bringing thousands of guests each time, according to Ahmed.
Salman Fazlur Rahman, a private sector expert and the prime minister’s investment advisor, will open this year’s US Trade Show.
According to John Fay, the US embassy’s commercial counsellor in Dhaka, this trade fair will provide a platform for US companies to exhibit their superior products to Bangladeshi consumers.
It will also help in strengthening Bangladesh’s relationship with the US, he said.
At the event, five seminars will be organised, which will be titled “Inclusive Innovation: Empowering Women in the AI Era”, “US Export Licensing for Importers”, “Studying in the US and Student Visas”, “USAID Development Work with the Private Sector”, “Doing Business with the US and Business Visas”.
