Garment manufacturers in Indore have joined hands with the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) to develop their skills and survey new markets while enhancing the quality of their production. With a market size projected to surpass Rs. 1000 crore, Indore’s readymade garment sector, central to over 1000 garment makers, intends to promote its brand nationally and enlarge its presence both domestically and internationally.
The Readymade Textile Dealers Association has finalised this association by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with CMAI in the presence of about 200 garment manufacturers.
Rahul Mehta, Chief Mentor of CMAI, pointed out, “Indore is the foremost manufacturing hub for kidswear garments, which is the fastest-growing segment in the industry. Understanding the promising stage of Indore’s garment industry, Mehta underlined the need for a platform to improve its reach and set up a recognizable brand. CMAI, as an association, intends to support regional industries in their expansion and adaptation to developing trends and market demands”.
Mehta further shared that the partnership between the two associations will assist in the upgrading, up skilling, and market expansion for garment manufacturers in Indore. Key markets for Indore’s readymade garments are the states of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Haryana.
Ashish Nigam, President of the Readymade Textile Dealers Association, shared optimism about the collaboration, visualising it as the start of a new journey for garment manufacturers in Indore. “Having a membership of around 2,200 manufacturers, the association predicts that partnering with a national body will grant a platform to connect with both national and international buyers. Access to good platforms will lift up the industry’s profile and improve business prospects”.
Even though the participation of Indore’s readymade garments manufacturers in exports is not enough, industry players deem that upgrading and upskilling will open up new avenues in the international market.
