
A recent visit by the US Coast Guard team has expressed satisfaction as to the security at Chittagong Port, which has installed around 1,241 cameras to strengthen and modernise the security system and destroyed 60 tonnes of hazardous goods under the supervision of customs authorities.
As per a press release issued in this direction by the authorities concerned, the Coast Guard delegation gave positive opinion after observing its overall security system.
Meanwhile, sharing details about the other measures undertaken by the port authorities to increase its efficiency, it has, reportedly, been underlined the navigability improvement work is almost 95 per cent complete after the completion through dredging from Sadarghat of Karnaphuli River to Bakliar Char even if the rest of the work is expected to be completed by September.
