Brassieres import by the USA has seen a rise of 22 per cent on M-o-M basis in Mar. ’21 and 75.65 per cent on Y-o-Y basis, according to OTEXA and an analysis done by the team of Apparel Resources.
Importing US $ 252.88 million worth of brassieres in Mar. ’21 as against US $ 207.29 million in Feb. ’21, the country has sent a clear message that the demand for lingerie items may continue this summer season.
China, Vietnam and Sri Lanka – the top 3 brassieres suppliers to USA – remained positive both on M-o-M and Y-o-Y basis, while Indonesia and Bangladesh (4th and 5th top shippers) noted Y-o-Y growth in their respective brassieres exports to USA but fell on monthly note (see table 1 and table 2 below).
M-o-M % Change in Value-wise Brassieres Exports to USA:

Y-o-Y % Change in Value-wise Brassieres Exports to USA: (Values in US $ million)

The monthly decline of Bangladesh in March may worry the exporters because the subsequent months – April and May – were the months when COVID-19 again impacted the business, forcing factories to go shut due to imposed nation-wide lockdown.
