
The Textile Ministry will soon seek the Cabinet’s approval for the new textile policy, under which 35 million jobs will be created in the industry, informed Union Minister Santosh Gangwar.

The Ministry is expected to approach the Ministry within the next fortnight. He further said that the new policy envisions increasing textile exports to US$ 300 billion by 2024-25, which will create 35 million jobs. “We will approach the Cabinet within the next 10 to 15 days for approval of the new Textiles Policy,” Gangwar said.

The policy also addresses concerns of the skilled work force, while enhancing investments in the textile industry and providing a layout for the future of the textile and apparel industry.
The textile ministry feels the need to review the domestic and international policies for the textile industry and hence has initiated the process of National Textile Policy, 2000.
