Nasrul Hamid, the State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources in Bangladesh, has claimed programmes were underway to produce 40,000 megawatt of electricity by 2030 and 60,000 megawatts by 2041.
This is as per reports, which maintained the Minister said this while answering a question being asked in the Parliament recently even as he reportedly observed when the present government assumed power in 2008, the country’s power generation capacity was 4,942 megawatt or real production was around 3,268 megawatt while adding present, Bangladesh’s total power generation capacity is 27,361 megawatts, including captive and renewable energy sources currently even as a maximum of 15,648 megawatt electricity was generated on 19th April 2023.
It may be mentioned here Bangladesh is facing issues with power generation and distribution lately, which had hit production of various factories including in the apparel and textile sector.
