According to statistics released by Sri Lanka Apparel Exporters Association(SLAEA), the apparel exports of the country increased by 21.38 per cent on Y-o-Y to US $ 418.63 million in April ’22.
Though export has increased on yearly basis, it has declined by 3.84 per cent on monthly note as compared with March ’22 figures when export revenues hit US $ 435.20 million.
Of total exports, USA constituted US $ 173.27 million revenues for Sri Lanka, noting 13 per cent Y-o-Y increase. EU market accounted for US $ 30.15 million shipment from Sri Lanka.
The third top market was the UK that imported US $ 62.61 million worth of apparels from Sri Lanka in April ’22, registering 36.91 per cent Y-o-Y growth.
Cumulatively, in Jan.-Apr. ’22, Sri Lanka clocked US $ 1.81 billion worth of revenues in its garment exports, as compared with US $ 1.59 billion revenues in Jan.-Apr. ’21 period.
