For the first time ever, a direct ship for China left Bangladesh’s Chittagong Port recently.
According to media reports, operated by the Switzerland-based Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), the first direct cargo ship left Chittagong Port for China on 24 May (Tuesday) even if the direct shipping service will allow ships to carry goods from China to Chittagong in just 12-13 days and thereby reduce the shipment time by half.
Reports further added MSC will initially operate four cargo ships on this route and two more ships will be added to the fleet subsequently even if at least one ship carrying goods from China will arrive at Chittagong Port per week.
