After a negative 2020, orders for Italian textile machinery are growing in 2021 as Q2 remained positive…This has been revealed by ACIMIT (Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers).
The index of orders for textile machinery developed by ACIMIT, in the period April-June 2021, was up by 214 per cent compared to the same period of 2020. The value of the index was 150.7 points (base 2015 = 100).
The first half data and the order index are also positive for the Italian textile manufacturers. The overall increase in orders, both domestic and export, was 122 per cent compared to the first half of 2020.
Domestic orders grew by 210 per cent in H1 ’21, while export orders upped by 111 per cent as compared to H1 ’20.
Alessandro Zucchi, President, ACIMIT, commented, “The data coming from our survey are certainly positive and testify to a renewed climate of trust. On the domestic market, in addition to a physiological rebound following the collapse of 2020, the boost generated by the 4.0 incentives is felt. The digitisation of businesses is truly perceived as a lever of competitiveness for the entire textile supply chain, especially the Italian one.”
Despite the encouraging signs, there are obstacles to a solid recovery, such as the costs of raw materials and difficulties in the movement of personnel, as added by Zucchi.
“The strong rise in the price of raw materials does not seem to stop. Added to this is the low availability of components which makes it difficult to fulfill the many orders received. Finally, the limitation to the movement of our staff persists, especially the assembly technicians,” informed Zucchi.
