Trade fairs are meant for networking with new buyers and if one can fulfil the requirement of the buyers, business will definitely follow. Pooja International India, a 12 years old fashion accessories company, has added 8 new buyers from the recently concluded Magic Fair and is quite hopeful to get good business in the future from them as the first shipment of the new lot of buyers is expected to be dispatched in November.
The company has been working with the North American market and countries of South America like Chile, Ecuador, Colombia and Uruguay are quite new for them. “These emerging markets seem a very good opportunity for us, as most of the buyers are chain stores and have capacities to place an average order size of about 40,000 pieces. The average FOB starts from US $ 1 to 5, as the demand is more for basic rather than high-value fashion garments. We have also realized that these countries are more close to Indian culture and Indian fashion, as compared to North America. If we are able to tap this market successfully, we can hope that 30 per cent of our business will eventually come from South America,” says Gurpreet Singh, the soft spoken Director of the company.
Pooja International has developed some new products for this market, which includes Pareo Towels since these Spanish colonized area are very fond of beach wear. “Dollar appreciation and increasing cost in China are the other beneficial factors aiding our growth today. We can plan for expansion also if the orders increase,” concludes Gurpreet.
