
Even as Bangladesh inches closer to becoming a developing country, which experts say will impact its overall exports, India, which has emerged as a strong apparel export destination for Bangladesh lately, has, reportedly, assured Bangladesh to find out a mechanism to continue duty-free and quota-free (DFQF) access of goods to its market.
Media reports maintained this adding the same was underlined by India at the recently held Bangladesh-India Commerce Secretary-level meeting even if New Delhi has also, reportedly, urged Dhaka to quickly complete a joint study on Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and move towards conclusion of the deal, which might be an option to accommodate DFQF for Bangladeshi products.
Meanwhile, a senior Bangladesh Commerce Ministry official, who attended the said meeting, reportedly told media, the Indian side felt Bangladesh should not fall in the risk of being derailed from its growth trajectory after the LDC graduation even if during the discussion, Dhaka, reportedly, underlined since many countries and blocs assured continuation of DFQF facility after the LDC graduation, India can also consider the same as a major trading partner.
