Industries Minister K.T. Rama Rao reviewed the Handlooms and Textiles Department and TSCO. He then gave directives and recommendations to officials, including one aimed at enhancing current programmes like the input subsidy linked wage compensation scheme Chenetha Mitra by further streamlining and user-friendly the procedure.
The Minister asked the officials to complete the outstanding tasks in the current mini textile parks, textile parks, and apparel parks and demanded a report on the implementation of Block Level Clusters in the State as well as the Gundlapochampally Apparel Park. He also gave them instructions to finish the Gadwal Handloom Park’s construction.
As a first step towards creating fibre fashion as well as backward and forward linkages, the Minister requested that the officials travel to Tiruppur in Tamil Nadu to study the cluster model and create equivalent clusters in Telangana.
Rao emphasised the necessity of taking action to make handloom weaving profitable so as to encourage those who have left the field to return. The development of handloom clusters in places like Narayanpet, Gadwal, Dubbaka, Kodakandla, Mahadevpur, and Kothakota, as well as support for both private and public parks like White Gold, were encouraged.
According to a press statement from the Minister’s office, Rao underlined the importance of making plans to commemorate National Handloom Day (7th August) in a big way. He also requested proposals for a Hyderabad handloom museum.
