Industries and businesses in Bangladesh have agreed, in principle, to a proposal from the Government for a rotating day-off scheme for industrial belts, aimed at reducing the frequency and length of planned power cuts being carried out currently amidst energy crisis in the country.
“Friday is considered a day-off in all industrial areas and instead of same, if day-offs can be rotated in each area, we will be able to distribute the budgeted power supply for the area to some other areas,” reportedly, underlined the State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid in a recent meeting with the officials of business associations.
It may be mentioned here the Government is carrying out planned load shedding in the country in face of the existing power crisis facing Bangladesh.
