Union Textiles, Commerce and Industries Minister Piyush Goyal has said, as strong infrastructure is in place, India is well positioned to organise world class exhibitions. The Central Government will also be organising a global textiles fair in the month of February 2024 at New Delhi. Indian companies will display their latest offerings in the global event and the Government will invite global textile-apparel players to participate in the fair.
Addressing the AsiaTex 2023 (a B2B Textile Trade Fair) organised by Hindustan Chamber of Commerce, the Minister said the that newly developed International Exhibition cum Convention Centre (IECC) complex at Pragati Maidan has spread over 123 acres.
Apart from IECC, a new Exhibition cum convention centre will be set up in Dwarka (New Delhi). A new Convention centre has already been started in Greater Noida. There is also an international standard exhibition cum Convention centre already set up at BKC, Mumbai, known as JIO World Convention Centre.
The minister suggested that the textiles trade should promote younger generation and specially women in the future.
Shikharchand Jain, President of Hindustan Chamber of Commerce (HCC) has said that Chamber is planning to organise AsiaTex fair every year on a bigger scale.
