Following a five-day break for Eid-ul-Azha, trade between India and Bangladesh via the Benapole land port recommenced on Wednesday morning.
From 14th-18th June, import and export with India via this port was not permitted. The Benapole C&F Staff Association’s general secretary, Sajedur Rahman, said that import and export operations via the port had restarted at approximately nine in the morning.
Although trade was suspended for holidays, Azharul Islam, the officer in charge of the Benapole Check Post Immigration Police, stated that passenger traffic between the two countries was normal.
During that time, some 34,000 passport holders travelled between the nations, according to him.
Rezaul Karim, director of traffic at Benapole Port, said that personnel began coming into work at the port in the morning following the conclusion of the holidays.
