
The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) recently recognised the outstanding contributions of eight Bangladeshi business enterprises to the sustainable growth of the economy, even in challenging times.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi presented the awards to the winners during the 3rd HSBC Business Excellence Awards ceremony held at the Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden in the capital Dhaka.
These awards were organised in collaboration with the Bangladesh Ministry of Commerce and the British High Commission in Dhaka.
Among the notable awardees was Ha-Meem Group, one of the country’s largest textile and garment manufacturers, which received recognition in the readymade garment category for maintaining an annual export value exceeding US $ 50 million.
Pahartali Textile & Hosiery Mills, a spinning unit of MM Ispahani Ltd, was honoured in the supply chain and backward linkage category for achieving annual export receipts of over US $ 10 million.
Gildan, an American-owned Canadian manufacturer of branded clothing, was acknowledged as a leader in the inbound investment and infrastructure category. The company has been operating in Bangladesh since 2010 even as Square Group, a prominent conglomerate with diverse operations in pharmaceuticals, healthcare, textiles, consumer goods, media, and IT, received the special achievement award for its remarkable contributions to socio-economic growth, excellence in innovation, job creation, and community support.
