
Apex garment makers’ body in Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), has recently received a memento from the Government of Bangladesh for its contributions to apparel export growth and development and expansion of textile education.
As per media reports, the garment makers’ body was handed over the memento recently at an event to mark ‘National Textile Day 2022’, organised by the Ministry of Textiles and Jute and held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in Dhaka.
The Acting President of BGMEA Shahidullah Azim reportedly received the memento from Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi, who chaired the programme even as Shahidullah Azim on his part maintained the incentives and policy support declared by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has helped the garment and textile industry in surviving the fallouts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The State Minister for Labour, Mannujan Sufian, was the special guest at the programme.
