The Ministry of Trade and Industry of Ghana has planned to restructure the apparel industry to build a sustainable source of foreign exchange inflows by attracting investors. Plans of identifying locations for setting up new garment factories, providing required utilities, and upgrading and equipping existing training facilities have been initiated by the Ministry. This plan is a part of the five-year National Export Development Plan (NEDP), which aims to take the export income to US $ 5 billion. Although the country has a competent labour force for the apparel industry, it still faces challenges of energy, water, and factory space.
