FTA (Free trade agreement) between Lanka-China has increased the hope between both the countries including garment industry. Mark Green, the Executive VP of Global Supply Chain of PVH Corporation, New York has said, “This FTA having duty free market access to China is very important for us as an apparel sourcing firm and the benefits are great. This is even more important for us since we have considerable income from Asia-30 per centof our turnover from Calvin Klein brand alone originates from Asia! said. Trade between Sri Lanka and China has grown by 15.2 per cent in 2013 to US $ 3.08 billion from 2012’s US $ 2.67 billion. Minister of Industry and Commerce Bathiudeen said, “ One of the items we look forward to make duty free in this historic FTA could be apparels.”
