The Foreign Investors’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) has proposed the establishment of a separate office to oversee issues related to protecting intellectual property (IP) rights, including copyright, trademark, patent design, and geographical indication.
A group from the FICCI, led by President Zaved Akhtar, brought the suggestion to the industries ministry’s advisor, Adilur Rahman Khan, at the ministry’s Dhaka headquarters.
The meeting’s main objective was to collaborate on finding solutions for Bangladesh’s industrial problems.
Both sides discussed tactics for short- and long-term fixes targeted at accelerating the nation’s industrial growth throughout the conversation. IP rights and other urgent industrial challenges were among the main subjects.
The industries adviser gave FICCI high marks for taking the initiative to solve sector-specific problems.
According to a news release from FICCI, he also emphasised the value of private sector participation in maximising the use of state-owned industrial parks and called for robust cooperation to support the expansion of Bangladesh’s industrial sector.
The meeting was chaired by the senior secretary of the industries ministry, Zakia Sultana, and was attended by the FICCI Board Directors, Md. Mahbub Ur Rahman, Faisal Ahmed Chowdhury, and Sumitava Basu, along with other top ministry officials.
The statement claims that by significantly boosting economic growth, FICCI, the trade association for international firms in Bangladesh, has been laying the groundwork for the country’s development.
