Fakir Kamruzzaman Nahid, Managing Director of Fakir Fashion Limited, has been elected as the Vice President (Elect) of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), one of the leading trade bodies representing the country’s knitwear industry.
His election to the vice-presidency follows his recent appointment as a Director of BKMEA through its latest election. The vote also saw the formation of the Progressive Knit Alliance, a panel composed of prominent industry representatives aiming to collaboratively address key challenges and enhance the competitiveness of the knitwear sector.
As Vice President, Nahid is expected to play a strategic role in advancing the interests of Bangladesh’s knitwear industry, which remains a major contributor to the country’s export earnings. His involvement in BKMEA’s leadership comes at a time when the sector is focusing on sustainability, innovation, and global market diversification.
