Ashraf Ahmed, president of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI), urged Russian importers to import more products from Bangladesh, especially readymade garments, jute and jute goods, leather goods, footwear among others.
He continued on to say that more Russian investments, particularly in the energy and power sector, might be crucial to Bangladesh’s continued industrialisation and economic growth.
He made these remarks in the capital’s DCCI auditorium during a meeting with a Russian trade delegation.
The 14-person group, which was led by Alexander Rybas, the trade commissioner of the Russian Federation’s embassy in India, came to the DCCI to look into potential business ventures for the businesspeople in both nations.
The head of DCCI added that thus far, Russian investors who have operations in Bangladesh have had success. Since these industries have enormous potential to strengthen bilateral ties, he invited Russian companies to make investments in the fields of agriculture, science, technology, education, maritime, and services.
According to the press release, bilateral trade between the two nations was US $ 965.61 million in the final fiscal year of 2022–2023; Bangladesh’s exports were US $ 460.39 million and imports were US $ 505.22 million.
To promote bilateral commerce and investment, Russia and Bangladesh have inked a cooperative trade agreement.
After the meeting, the members of the delegation took part in a business-to-business networking where they expressed their keen interest in doing business in Bangladesh and lauded the country as an attractive destination for investments, the press release added.
