Amidst reported worsening of coronavirus pandemic situation, Bangladesh Government has decided to continue the ongoing countrywide lockdown till 5 August, with restrictions on businesses, industries in general and public movement.
Media reports maintained this adding a decision in this regard was taken during a high-level meeting at the Cabinet Division held on 27 July even as Home Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Khan informed the media that requests of industrialists to allow factories to operate could not be accepted owing to the existing situation.
“…We cannot accept the request of industrialists; the ongoing restrictions will continue till 5 August as scheduled…,” reportedly, maintained Asaduzzaman Khan.
It may be mentioned here that the garment makers had earlier called upon the Government to allow apparel factories to operate, as has been the case in earlier lockdowns, as they apprehend business loss on account of the same.
Meanwhile, as part of the fresh curbs, operation of all industries and manufacturing units excepting those of medical equipment and oxygen, food and medicine, have been asked to remain shut from 23 July to 5 August.
