According to OTEXA, USA has witnessed 32.23 per cent (Y-o-Y) downfall in value-wise import of coveralls & overalls in January-July ’20 period. USA imported US $ 328 million worth of coveralls & overalls (both cotton-made and MMF-made).
The fall clearly indicates that COVID-19 caused a massive dent in cotton and MMF-based overalls & coveralls industry in the USA in 2020 as the suppliers might have switched to PPE coveralls to cater to the need.
China remained the largest shipper with over 35 per cent contribution to the total imported value of USA. Valuing US $ 105.86 million, China’s export of coveralls & overalls fell 37.72 per cent on Y-o-Y basis.
Mexico too suffered losses by 32.62 per cent on Y-o-Y basis and export of coveralls & overalls to USA valued US $ 67.28 million.
Vietnam and India were not exceptional as both the countries fell 36.29 per cent and 47.35 per cent, respectively, to ship US $ 35.29 million and US $ 15.84 million worth of overalls shipment to USA in the review period.
However, Bangladesh remained positive in its coveralls & overalls shipment to USA during January-July ’20. The country upped 14.22 per cent on yearly basis to value US $ 13.91 million in its exports of the said category to USA.
