
Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), which works with the vision to develop the RMG (readymade garment) industry of Bangladesh and the economy of the country, has urged the Government of the country to establish two industrial zones for the apparel sector near capital Dhaka and Chittagong on priority basis.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has announced establishing 100 industrial zones that might require time to come into operation. So we request the Government to set up two industrial zones for apparel sector on immediate basis,” underlined BGMEA President M. Siddiqur Rahman.

The BGMEA President added that if the industrial zones are not possible then limited Governmental land from the concerned authorities should be allotted so that the RMG factory owners can relocate their units from present locations to overcome crisis.
Rahman also urged the Government to save the RMG industry and that their cooperation is required to achieve the target of earning US $ 50 billion in apparel exports by the year 2021.
