A business delegation from China, comprising representatives from leading garment and textile companies paid a visit to the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association on Tuesday.
The BGMEA mission was led by president SM. Mannan (Kochi), and the Chinese delegation was represented by Xu Jinshan, president of Fujian Qunfeng Machinery Co. Ltd.
The meeting was attended by BGMEA vice-president (financial) Md Nasir Uddin, as well as directors Rajiv Chowdhury and Md Jakir Hossain.
Solaiman, the director of M & H Corporation (Pvt) Ltd, also attended the conference.
Xu Jinshan, Chen Qi Ping, and Yang Ming Ming represented the Chinese delegation during the meeting.
The discussions concentrated on identifying trade and investment prospects between Bangladesh and China, with a special emphasis on improving collaboration in the textile and clothing industries.
Both sides emphasised the possibilities for new commercial initiatives, with a focus on Bangladesh’s ability to produce high-value, man-made fiber-based clothes and its continued efforts to improve technological infrastructure.
The BGMEA officials emphasised Bangladesh’s rising emphasis on producing high-value products, notably man-made fiber-based clothing, as well as updating technology and machinery to increase capacity for producing more high-value clothes.
They also underlined the possibility of Chinese investment in Bangladesh’s high-end textile and backward linkage industries, anticipation claiming it would benefit both parties.
They expressed anticipation about joint efforts to boost the country’s garment production capability through information exchange and technical skill development.
