The largest private sector group in Bangladesh, Beximco with diverse business interests including readymade garment manufacturing added yet another feather to its hat after the company exported around 6.5 million PPE gowns to the USA recently.
With this, Bangladesh registered itself amongst the elite group of nations with ability to manufacture large-scale world-class personal protective equipment.
The first consignment of Beximco’s PPE gowns was sent from Dhaka’s Shahjalal International Airport recently in the presence of US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl Miller and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam, amongst others.
“In just couple of months, we have unleashed our world-class manufacturing, technical and design talent to switch over to making PPE and help increase the much-needed supply of PPEs,” maintained CEO and Group Director of Beximco Syed Naved Husain adding that the country has now attained a position to become the hub of PPE manufacturing.
Lauding Beximco for this achievement, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs said that it was remarkable that the country, in such a short span of just 2 months, was able to not only get into the well-regulated market of such healthcare products but has been able to produce in big quantities and export as well.
