
That personal protective equipment (PPE) is emerging as a strong product category lately is evidenced from the fact that increasing number of garment manufacturers in Bangladesh have started producing PPEs subsequent to the rising demand of PPEs in the global market.
According to media reports, in the last few months alone, Bangladesh has produced and exported PPEs to 71 countries and has earned around Taka 4,500 crore from the same.
What’s more, at present around 45 entities in Bangladesh are said to be producing PPEs of global standards and exporting to overseas markets.
Coronavirus has opened up new avenues for the apparel industry to take advantage of the rising demand of PPEs when exports from Bangladesh to its major export hubs took a hit due to the pandemic, reportedly stated the First Vice-President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) speaking to the media while adding that Bangladesh’s reputation of producing quality products is playing to its advantage.
We are receiving large orders for all types of PPEs from buyers from Europe and America, reportedly stated the BGMEA First Vice-President while adding that as PPE orders pour in from Brazil, Canada, EU, USA and other countries, manufacturers are augmenting their production lines to successfully cater to the same.
