Bangladesh’s export earnings for the first time in last 14 months dropped 6.25 per cent year-on-year to US $ 3.9 billion in September even as this decline came about as the garment shipment, which accounts for about 85 per cent of Bangladesh’s exports, went down by 7.52 per cent to US $ 3.16 billion in September.
Reports claimed this citing data from the country’s Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) while adding woven exports slipped 5.66 per cent to US $ 1.43 billion in September whereas knitwear shipments dipped 9 per cent to US $ 1.73 billion in the month under consideration.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media, BGMEA President Faruque Hassan on his part, reportedly, expressed hopes earnings from the readymade garment sector will rebound strongly from December as global brands and retailers were confirming the previously stalled orders.
