
To help reduce the production cost, textile mill owners in Bangladesh have called upon the Government to withdraw the provision of additional security deposit on increased gas tariff.
This is as per reports, which added the President of the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) Mohammad Ali Khokon, proposed the same while addressing a press meet in the capital Dhaka recently even as it has been found hike in power tariff has increased the production cost substantially even if the regular production capacity of the textile mills have decreased by 40 to 50 per cent on account of the power supply crisis.
Further dwelling on the issue of unsold yarn, the BTMA President reportedly demanded the Government increase the allocation from the export development fund to US $ 30 million from the current US $20 million to help textile entrepreneurs overcome the present crisis.
