
Bangladesh demonstrates a shared interest in growing its bilateral trade and commerce with Sri Lanka, said Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud.
He made the remarks when the Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Dhaka Dharmapala Weerakkody met him at the Foreign Ministry in Dhaka on 11th March.
Hasan Mahmud said, “I am very happy that Sri Lanka’s economy has recovered and Bangladesh has always stood by Sri Lanka during the crisis period.”
Mahmud placed a strong emphasis on utilising the two nations’ full capacity to improve relations and benefit their respective populations.
The speaker indicated that there is potential for increased bilateral collaboration between the two nations in several sectors such as trade, agriculture, fisheries, ICT, hospitality, shipping, marine connectivity, and people-to-people interaction.
Mahmud added that bilateral trade may be expanded by exporting high-quality pharmaceuticals and garments to Sri Lanka. He also urged for more Sri Lankan investment in Economic Zones.
High Commissioner Weerakkody informed the Foreign Minister that the Sri Lankan economy is in the recovery phase and thanked Bangladesh for helping throughout this journey.
He said that both nations may cooperate to increase sectoral collaboration even further for their mutual advantage.
