Macy’s, Inc. announced on Monday that Michael Krans has joined the U.S. retailer as vice president, Macy’s Media Network.
In this capacity, Krans is in charge of the internal media publication of the New York-based business, which links advertising partners with Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s clientele.
Macy’s Media Network creates tailored media plans that support business priorities and brand narrative in order to satisfy the company’s clientele through tactics driven by cross-category insights.
Krans, who has experience managing sales and marketing teams for publishing, e-commerce, and digital media, joins Macy’s after most recently heading the fashion team at Walmart Connect, where he collaborated with colleagues throughout the company to drive faster revenue growth with the largest clothing suppliers.
Prior to joining Hearst and Condé Nast, he held positions at prestigious publishers where he was in charge of marketing, advertising, and revenue growth strategies with a focus on retail, home, beauty, and fashion campaigns. Krans will answer to Max Magni, Macy’s chief customer and digital officer, in his new position.
“We’re excited to welcome Michael to Macy’s, Inc. He takes the reins of our growing retail media network bringing with him more than two decades of sales and marketing experience,” said Magni.
The appointment comes just weeks after Macy’s said it plans to close 150 unproductive locations, as the department-store chain seeks to fight off a pair of activist firms seeking to buy the company.
