Saudi Arabian Trade Minister Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi has emphasised the importance of formulating a strategic framework to enhance trade and economic relations between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia, especially for the RMG industry.
During a meeting in Riyadh with Bangladesh Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Md. Delwar Hossain, Al-Qasabi underscored the need for a comprehensive import-export strategy to strengthen bilateral trade. He reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting Bangladesh and assured that his ministry would extend all necessary assistance to resolve economic and trade-related issues.
The minister urged the ambassador to collaborate with the Saudi Business Council to prepare a detailed report outlining Bangladesh’s trade challenges, opportunities, and demands. He also instructed the envoy to identify key Saudi importers and exporters, engage in discussions with them, and evaluate potential areas of expansion and obstacles in bilateral trade.
Ambassador Hossain reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to deepening its economic and trade partnership with Riyadh. He presented a copy of the recently published Saudi-Bangladesh Economic Mapping report, prepared by the Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Saudi trade minister appreciated the initiative and assured that his ministry would conduct an in-depth analysis of the report to explore actionable recommendations.
He further expressed keen interest in working closely with Bangladesh to implement measures aimed at strengthening economic ties.
Deputy Chief of Mission at the Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh, S M Nazmul Hasan, was also present during the discussions.
