The garment accessories and packaging makers and exporters of Bangladesh have called upon the Government to make available cash incentives for them even if they urged continuation of 0.50 per cent source tax.
“Despite being 100 per cent export-oriented and small and medium in size, the sector is yet to get any such support,” reportedly, claimed the Bangladesh Garments Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) recently while underlining fabric and accessories are two major raw materials for the apparel industry and some 1,900 accessories and packaging makers meet almost all demands of the country’s apparel industry.
The BGAPMEA also demanded withdrawal of VAT on sub-contract as proposed for the apparel industry.
