A delegation from Afghanistan, led by Wayers, Head of the Trade Economic Division, visited the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) in Dhaka to explore opportunities for enhancing bilateral trade relations. The delegation was received by Mohammad Hatem, President of BKMEA, at the association’s headquarters.
During the meeting, discussions centered on expanding economic cooperation between Bangladesh and Afghanistan, with a particular focus on the growing interest among Afghan importers in sourcing apparel from Bangladesh. Wayers commended the progress and modern infrastructure of Bangladesh’s apparel sector and extended a formal invitation for a BKMEA delegation to visit Afghanistan, a gesture that President Hatem warmly accepted.
The meeting was attended by BKMEA Vice President (Finance) Morshed Sarwar Sohel, along with Directors Md. Abdul Hannan and Shahriar Syed. This visit underscores the potential for strengthening trade ties between the two nations, particularly in the apparel sector, which has been a cornerstone of Bangladesh’s export economy.
