
Bangladesh Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi has maintained that vaccinating the workers, in view of the prevailing coronavirus pandemic, is a top priority for the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina-led Bangladesh Government.
As per e-statement issued by the Bangladesh embassy in Washington DC in this direction, the Commerce Minister made this observation recently while meeting with US-based multinational retail corporation Walmart Vice President Paul Dyck even as he underlined that his Government expects to start providing garment workers their vaccinations within one and a half months.
Tipu Munshi further maintained factory owners and the Bangladesh Government were working together to vaccinate the garment workers even as he highlighted the Government’s efforts and factories’ preparedness to ensure workplace safety against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic while also expressing hope over 60 per cent of the population to be vaccinated within the next six months.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, reportedly, made a brief stopover at Washington DC to participate in a trade roundtable organised by the McLarty Associates even as he has been leading a Bangladesh delegation to Magic Las Vegas 2021 Trade Show.
