The total number of LEED certified apparel factories in Bangladesh have reached to 183 after three more garment manufacturing units has been recognised green recently by the United States Green Building Council or USGBC.
As per reports, the three units that have been certified green are namely Swisstex Village and the RMG and printing units of Jinnat Knitwears Limited.
Both the units of Mawna, Gazipur-based Jinnat Knitwears Limited have received Platinum ratings while Swisstex Village in Singair, Dhaka, has received Gold.
It may be mentioned here Bangladesh boasts of the highest number of green factories globally where 60 are Platinum rated, 109 Gold rated, 10 Silver, and four are certified green and have no rating.
